Lakkidi
Lakkidi is one of the highest locations in Wayanad and registers the second Lakkidihighest degree of rainfall in the world. It is about 58kms north east of Kozhikode and 5kms south of Vythiri.

Bedecked among the hills, Lakkidi is considered to be the gateway to Wayanad and is situated 700 m above mean sea level, at the crest of the Thamaraserri ghat pass. The mist-covered mountains make this place an enchanting one. Lakkidi commands picturesque scenery. The lofty mountain peaks, the gurgling stream, luxuriant vegetation and the birds' eye view of the deep valley on the south, with its winding roads are breath taking. The 12kms long journey from Adivaram to Lakkidi through ghat road with nine hairpin bends amidst thick forests is a fascinating experience.

3 km from Lakkidi is the Pookot Lake, the natural fresh water lake, very wide and deep, one of the rare reservoirs of water in Wayanad. Surrounded on all sides by meadows and hills, it has become a favorite picnic spot.
With mist formation in the atmosphere almost throughout the year the place has further scope for developing into a tourist centre.
