Rajnikanth's Kuselan to release in July
Rajnikanth's Kuselan, a remake of the Malayalam hit Katha Parayumbol will hit the theatres by the end of July.

Katha Parayumbol is a sweet, simple tale of friendship between a barber and a superstar. Sreenivasan, who acted as barber Balan, wrote the screenplay that did not slip even for a moment to melodrama.

While Rajnikanth appears as a cameo in Kuselan, the film is branded his, no matter if he appears only for five minutes.

After seeing Malayalam Katha Parayumbol, Rajanikanth hugged Sreenivasan and said, 'you made me cry.'

Kuselan produced by K Balachander's Kavithalaya and Seven Arts, turned out to be a quickie.

Rajnikanth plays the role of a superstar played by Mammootty in the original while Pasupathy plays Sreenivasan's role of the barber. Meena who played barber Balan's wife in the original repeats her act in the Tamil as well as Telugu version too.

Except for Rajnikanth, Meena and Nayanthara, all the artistes are different for Tamil and Telugu version.

Nayanthara who shot to fame when she was signed to act as Rajnikanth's heroine in Chandramukhi, the Tamil remake of Manichitrathazhu, once again plays the superstar's heroine in Kuselan.

When it takes a year or two for a Shankar to finish a Rajni film, P Vasu finished the shooting of Kuselan in record 82 days.

According to the director, 80-85 per cent of the film was shot inside the Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad as shooting a film starring Rajnikanth in real locations is extremely difficult.

There are five songs in the film of which three are picturised on the superstar. G V Prakash, nephew of A R Rahman is the music composer.

One of the songs written by Valee will be in praise of the Tamil film industry that is celebrating 75 years of its existence.
